Eligibility Assessment

After the application deadline has passed, we will evaluate your eligibility based on the application you submitted. To qualify for admission to a program, you must meet the general entry requirements and for some programs the specific eligibility requirements.

1. General Entry Requirements

1.1 Basic high school eligibility or real competence

Basic high school eligibility or real competence
You must have a high school diploma or municipal adult education (Komvux) equivalent, with at least 2,250 points and passing grades in English 5, Mathematics 1, and Swedish 1 (or their equivalents). Equivalent qualifications may include:

  • Studies at a folk high school (Folkhögskolan)
  • A foreign high school diploma
  • Other education or practical experience that qualifies you for admission to our programs

1.2 Swedish language requirement

In addition, if your native language is other than Swedish, Danish, Norwegian, Icelandic or Faroese, you must have the necessary knowledge of the Swedish language.

Proof can include, but is not limited to:

  • Grades from Swedish high school course 1, 2 or 3, alternatively Swedish as a second language 1, 2 or 3, or equivalent course from other Scandinavian countries.
  • Proof of completion of SFI (Swedish for Immigrants) course corresponding to a minimum of GERS A1 level, higher levels accepted, or an equivalent course from another Scandinavian country, is required. If the course has not yet been completed, proof of enrollment must be provided at the time of application. Please note that proof of course completion must be submitted before an applicant can be offered a seat in a program or course.
  • Reference Letter from your employer that states your employers contact details and your Swedish proficiency in writing, reading and speaking with clear examples of how you use this proficiency at work.

2. Specific Eligibility

Some programs have additional requirements that must be met to qualify for admission. These may include:

  • Grades in specific high school courses
  • Professional experience relevant to the program

If professional experience is a requirement, you must submit supporting documentation, such as work certificates or pay slips. To ensure acceptance of these documents, they must clearly state:

  • Time period of employment (start and end dates)
  • Extent of employment (percentage of full-time work)
  • Job duties

Please note: Work certificates must also include your personal details and be dated and signed by the employer.

Specific requirements per program:

- Data Analyst: Math 2
- Frontend Developer: Math 2 and Programming 1
- Business Developer: At least 1 year of professional experience in any of the following areas: organizational governance, project management, business development, digital transformation, IT, sales of complex solutions, or procurement.

Other Ways to Prove Eligibility

If we assess your application as "not eligible," we will contact you to provide an opportunity to submit additional documentation. Note that any additional documents must be submitted by the specified deadline.

Below are alternative ways to demonstrate eligibility if you do not meet the formal requirements:

1. Apply Through Real Competence

If you do not meet the formal eligibility criteria, such as lacking a high school diploma, you may demonstrate equivalent knowledge through other means. For example:

  • Practical experience in a relevant field
  • Achieving a score higher than 8 on the Application Task

To claim real competence in your application, you must provide supporting documentation, such as certificates or other evidence, to prove your qualifications.

2. The 20% Rule

In exceptional cases, we may admit applicants under the "20% rule." This rule allows us to waive formal eligibility requirements for up to 20% of the available spots in a program. To qualify, you must demonstrate sufficient relevant experience, and we must determine that you are likely to succeed in the program and your future profession.

However, competition for these spots is very high. For this reason, we strongly recommend that you strive to meet eligibility requirements through other means wherever possible.

Loved by Lifelong learners

Danny Mallas Hyper Island Alumni working at Spotify

“Hyper Island values experimentation and failure as a learning method and brings students close to the industry, which is priceless.

I had an amazing time in this program. It was challenging, however, that was exactly what I was looking for deep learning experiences and non-conventional learning methods, as well as great connections and opportunities.”
