Eligibility Assessment

After the application deadline has passed, we will evaluate your eligibility based on the application you submitted. To qualify for admission to a program, you must meet two types of eligibility requirements:

1. Basic Eligibility

You must have a high school diploma or municipal adult education (Komvux) equivalent, with at least 2,250 points and passing grades in English 5, Mathematics 1, and Swedish 1 (or their equivalents). Equivalent qualifications may include:

  • Studies at a folk high school (Folkhögskolan)
  • A foreign high school diploma
  • Other education or practical experience that qualifies you for admission to our programs

2. Specific Eligibility

Some programs have additional requirements that must be met to qualify for admission. These may include:

  • Grades in specific high school courses
  • Professional experience relevant to the program

If professional experience is a requirement, you must submit supporting documentation, such as work certificates or pay slips. To ensure acceptance of these documents, they must clearly state:

  • Time period of employment (start and end dates)
  • Extent of employment (percentage of full-time work)
  • Job duties

Please note: Work certificates must also include your personal details and be dated and signed by the employer.

Specific requirements per program:

Data Analytics: Completion of Math 2
Frontend Developer:
Completion of Math 2 and Programming 1
Motion Creative:
Previous experience in Film, Photography or Sound Design

Other Ways to Prove Eligibility

If we assess your application as "not eligible," we will contact you to provide an opportunity to submit additional documentation. Note that any additional documents must be submitted by the specified deadline.

Below are alternative ways to demonstrate eligibility if you do not meet the formal requirements:

1. Apply Through Real Competence

If you do not meet the formal eligibility criteria, such as lacking a high school diploma, you may demonstrate equivalent knowledge through other means. For example:

  • Practical experience in a relevant field
  • Achieving a score higher than 8 on the Application Task

To claim real competence in your application, you must provide supporting documentation, such as certificates or other evidence, to prove your qualifications.

2. The 20% Rule

In exceptional cases, we may admit applicants under the "20% rule." This rule allows us to waive formal eligibility requirements for up to 20% of the available spots in a program. To qualify, you must demonstrate sufficient relevant experience, and we must determine that you are likely to succeed in the program and your future profession.

However, competition for these spots is very high. For this reason, we strongly recommend that you strive to meet eligibility requirements through other means wherever possible.

Selection and important dates expand_more expand_less

This is how the selection is made

Selection Round 1:

In the first selection round, we evaluate your basic eligibility and, if applicable, your specific eligibility. During this round, we also review and score your Application Task.

If any required documents are missing, we will contact you to request them. Additionally, we may award eligibility through Real Competence or the 20% rule if applicable.

Once this round is complete, we will notify you about the outcome. You will either receive an invitation to proceed to the next stage or, unfortunately, be informed that your application has not been successful this year.

Selection Round 2:

If the number of eligible applicants exceeds the available seats for a program, a selection process is conducted. This process takes place during our Admissions Days.

The Admissions Days allow us to evaluate your problem solving skills and your ability to work solution-oriented in group settings. They also provide an opportunity for you to connect with other applicants.

All applicants who meet the eligibility requirements and submit their applications during the regular application period will be invited to participate in Admissions Days. After completing the Admissions Days, all participants are evaluated and ranked on a point scale. This ranking determines who will be offered a place in the program.

Important dates:

Application Deadline: April 10, 2025 at 17:00 CEST.

Admissions Days: Between May 13, 2025 to May 23, 2025.

Admissions results: Admissions results will be shared with all eligible applicants before Midsommar 2025.

Loved by Lifelong learners

Danny Mallas Hyper Island Alumni working at Spotify

“Hyper Island values experimentation and failure as a learning method and brings students close to the industry, which is priceless.

I had an amazing time in this program. It was challenging, however, that was exactly what I was looking for deep learning experiences and non-conventional learning methods, as well as great connections and opportunities.”
