“I usually say I’m a catalyst for change. That’s what I am.”

A Career Shaped by Transformation

Moira’s journey has never followed a straight line, and that’s exactly what makes it powerful. Early in her career, she held leadership positions in global companies, most notably serving as Digital Transformation Director at adidas. It was there that she began working with Human-Centered Design as a tool for navigating change, a practice that would later become central to her work.

“That role helped me grow as a leader — not just creatively, but also in how I manage and guide transformation,” she shares.

But Moira’s career hasn’t just been about corporate roles. She’s also written children’s books (including one supported by adidas and sports icons like Messi and Steffi Graf), curated large-scale exhibitions, and even opened her own art gallery in Germany that blended creativity, coaching, and transformation.

The launch of MBUZZ Consulting & Coaching was a turning point, a way to bring all of her worlds together. Today, Moira works with teams, leaders, and organizations who are ready to embrace change in a structured, human-centered way. She combines methods like visual thinking, Designing Your Life coaching, and her own proprietary tools, many of which appear in her 2024 book Start Now, and the upcoming Becoming a Change Leader, co-authored with Natsuko Hara.

From adidas to Hyper Island

Moira’s connection to Hyper Island came through a former colleague from adidas who introduced her to the school’s unique culture and learning approach.

“I’m not joking when I say I cried at the end of my first class,” she says. “The energy in the room was something special.”

Since then, she’s become a dedicated Industry Leader, currently teaching in the Business Developer Upskill program. Her module — Design for Change — is one of the five pillars of the course.

Designing for Change in the Real World

In her module, Moira teaches students how to lead change with intention, using visual, practical, and human-centered methods. It’s not about abstract frameworks, it’s about tools you can use the very next day.

From stakeholder mapping and alignment strategies to building shared visions and navigating uncertainty, the module is grounded in action. Her goal? To help students become the change leaders their industries are calling for.

“I want students to leave the course not just with theory, but with tools they can use the day after – and a mindset that helps them keep adapting. They are going to be the future change leaders.” she explains.

What It’s Like to Work With Hyper Island Students

For Moira, teaching at Hyper Island isn’t just a gig, it’s a source of inspiration.

She describes the students as diverse, driven, and deeply engaged with real-world impact. Every class is a little different, and she adapts her sessions to match the energy and needs of the group. The fact that students work with real clients and challenges is a key differentiator, she says — it makes the learning experience much more meaningful.

“Some of the students stay in touch for years. They write to me, tell me how they’re using what they learned, or share stories from their companies. I love that part.”

Where Business Development Is Heading Next

When asked about the future of business development, Moira points to a few key shifts. The rise of AI and digital transformation is, of course, reshaping industries at a rapid pace. But equally important is the need for creative tools, like visual thinking and storytelling, to help people make sense of complexity.

And above all, she sees a growing need for a new kind of leader.

“We need people who are not afraid of uncertainty, who can bring others with them, who can lead with empathy and clarity," she says. "That’s the kind of leadership the future is asking for.”

Advice for the Next Generation of Change Leaders

Moira’s message to aspiring business developers is simple, but powerful:

“Start now. Don’t wait for the perfect moment. Take a step, try something, learn from it. That’s how growth happens.”

She encourages students and professionals alike to stay curious, experiment, and build a mindset rooted in creativity, adaptability, and purpose. Try prototyping, draw ideas, map out scenarios. And most importantly, stay grounded in your values.
