The Motion Designer program will guide you through the basics of animation all the way to the skills you need to direct your own innovative motion concepts. You will immerse yourself in the world of motion graphics, guided by industry professionals, to become an expert creator of visual experiences.

The Application Process

To be considered a student who qualifies for a Swedish government funded YH education (Yrkeshögskolan) you must fulfil at least one of the following criteria:

1) Be a citizen of Sweden, Iceland, Norway, Denmark, Finland or any of the related territories.
2) Have permanent right of residence in one of the countries mentioned above
3) Have temporary right of residence in Sweden for the full duration of the program. This permit can’t be study or work dependent. You may be asked to upload proof of your right of residence before the program starts.

Note! By program start, August 5, 2024, you must hold a Swedish personal identity number (personnummer), coordination number (samordningsnummer). This also applies to residents of the Nordic countries mentioned above.

Your residency in Sweden must not be dependent on your studies at Hyper Island. Please note that Hyper Island is unable to provide immigration support or sponsorship of any kind to students applying for a Swedish government funded seat.

You must also meet at least one the following entry requirements:

1) applicants need to have at least a high school diploma (“Gymnasieexamen”) or equivalent from Komvux

2) have a Swedish or foreign education that is equivalent to the requirements in item 1

3) resides in Denmark, Finland, Iceland or Norway and are eligible for an equivalent education in that country

4) through Swedish or foreign education, practical experience or in any other way meet the conditions to be granted admission in the program

Applicants applying for a Swedish government funded seat must also meet the following eligibility requirement:

  • Have basic knowledge of the Swedish language, or any of the other Scandinavian languages (danish, faroese, icelandic or norwegian)*. 
    • You may be asked to upload proof that you meet the language requirements
      • Proof can include, but is not limited to:
        • Grades from Swedish high school course 2 or 3, alternatively Swedish as a second language 2 or 3, or equivalent course from other Scandinavian countries
        • Proof of completed or enrolled in the SFI (Swedish for Immigrants) course A1 and/or A2, or higher, or equivalent course from other Scandinavian countries. The SFI course, or equivalent from other Scandinavian countries, must be completed by program start. 
        • Letter from employer stating the applicant’s knowledge of Swedish or other Scandinavian language gained through work experience or other real life experience. 

Sufficient knowledge in a Scandinavian language is needed in order for Hyper Island to help and support students find a successful industry placement (internship= LIA) in Sweden. The industry placement is a required part of the YH program.

Eligible candidates can apply for the newly introduced financial support “Omställningsstudiestöd”.

Successful applicants need to have at least a high school diploma (“Gymnasieexamen”) or a foreign equivalent and have a basic knowledge of Scandinavian language (for more information, please refer to Tab 1). No previous work experience is required.

Studying your last year at high school?

If you have not graduated from high school yet but are on track to graduate in Spring 2024, you can still apply to Hyper Island.

Please ask your school to provide a certificate with your predicted grades and submit that document as your education backup. You will need to send your final grades to us as soon as you receive them.

Our application portal will be open from January 2024 until April 15, 2024.

We do not accept any applications past the deadline.

  • Submit your Application Task.

  • One-page CV in English.

  • Proof of education: show that you have completed at least high school, whether that's in Sweden or another country. Click here to see which document you need to upload. We do not require your education documents to be translated.

  • Please note that some of our programs have additional requirements, so you may need to provide extra supporting materials.

  • Proof of basic knowledge of the Swedish language, or any of the other Scandinavian languages (Danish, Faroese, Icelandic, or Norwegian). Proof can include, but is not limited to:

You'll be notified and invited to join the second step of our admissions process in May 2024.

You'll be notified with the final decision starting late June. Seats are offered from the reserve list until the end of the third week of school.

Residence permit requirements expand_more expand_less

Hyper Island will provide the necessary documentation for applications to the Swedish Migration Agency (Migrationsverket) for students requiring a student residence permit. In order to receive this backup documentation from Hyper Island you must be a fee-paying international student who has gone through the international admissions process with us.   • IELTS: A minimum overall score of 5.5, with no section scoring below 5.0.
  • At least a passing grade in a foreign equivalent of English 6 (Swedish high school course).
  • Proof of previous education in English: Successful completion of studies at an English-speaking institution (high school, vocational school, college, or university).
These requirements ensure students are prepared to succeed in our English-taught programs.

Attend the Digital Admissions Day (DAD) expand_more expand_less

Upon submitting your application, you'll be notified if you have made it to the next round, which is the admissions day. You will be invited to an admissions preparatory meeting to get all your remaining questions answered and we will prepare you for the next step, Digital Admissions Day. This day consists of a personal but informal interview and an interactive group task with other international applicants. Don't hesitate to contact us if you need more information.
