LungA School Growth

LungA School, based in Seyðisfjörður, Iceland, is an artist-led educational institution that emphasizes experimental, informal, and immersive adult education. With distinct programs such as LAND and ART, LungA creates a unique learning environment that fosters sustainability, leadership, and community engagement. As the leader of this Erasmus+ project, LungA School collaborates with the University of South-Eastern Norway (USN) and Brandbjerg Folk High School in Denmark to enhance access to innovative and transformative education.

The LungA School Growth project focuses on improving the accessibility and impact of LungA’s programs. Its key objectives include transitioning from semester-based to trimester-based courses, developing a new LAND curriculum centered on sustainable practices and deepening the relationship with nature, and creating a digital resource library to support lifelong learning. Funded by a €250,000 Erasmus+ grant, the project fosters cross-border collaboration to enhance educational practices among its partners.

Hyper Island’s role in the project centers on curriculum development and organizational recommendations. Led by Lisa Boldt-Christmas and Kevin Sanikidze, the Hyper Island team conducted a detailed review of the LAND program, providing strategies and tools to refine its structure and foster a supportive team culture. Their work included introducing workshops and methodologies to improve trust, collaboration, and group dynamics, which were integrated into the project's development plan.
